How to Delete Your MyDates Account and Data
If you wish to delete your MyDates account and all associated data, please follow the steps below. This process will permanently delete your account and all data associated with it.
Steps to Request Account Deletion
Step 1: Delete Data from Google Drive (if you use cloud sync)
If you have enabled cloud sync and your data is backed up to Google Drive:
- Open the MyDates app on your device
- Delete all your local records of events on the Main screen
- Go to Settings
- Navigate to Cloud Sync or Backup settings and click on "Backup to Google" and wait for the backup to complete
Step 2: Revoke Google OAuth Access
To revoke MyDates access to your Google account:
- Visit Google Account Permissions
- Find MyDates in the list of apps with access
- Click on MyDates and select "Remove Access" or "Revoke Access"
Step 3: Delete Local App Data
To delete all data stored locally on your device:
- Open your device Settings
- Go to Apps or Application Manager
- Find and select MyDates
- Tap "Storage" or "Data"
- Tap "Clear Data" or "Clear Storage"
- Confirm the deletion
- Alternatively, you can uninstall the MyDates app, which will remove all local data
Step 4: Contact Us for Server-Side Data Deletion
To ensure complete deletion of all your data, including any data stored on our servers:
- Send an email to info@mydates.life with the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- Include the following information in your email:
- Your Google account email address (the one you used to sign in to MyDates)
- Your device's unique identifier (if available from app settings)
- A clear statement that you want to delete your account and all associated data
- We will process your request within 30 days and confirm deletion via email
What Data Will Be Deleted
When you delete your MyDates account, the following data will be permanently deleted:
- Account Information: Your Google OAuth account association, profile information (name, email, profile picture)
- Event Data: All birthdays, anniversaries, and custom events you created
- Event Notes: All notes and additional information associated with your events
- App Preferences: Your notification settings, theme preferences, and other app configurations
- Cloud Backup Data: All data stored in your Google Drive backup (if you used cloud sync)
- Local Storage Data: All data stored locally on your device
- Device Identifiers: Unique device identification (UID) associated with your account
What Data May Be Retained
In accordance with legal requirements and our data retention policies, the following data may be retained for a limited period:
- Legal Compliance: We may retain certain data if required by law, court order, or to comply with legal obligations
- Security and Fraud Prevention: We may retain limited data (such as device identifiers) for security purposes and fraud prevention for up to 90 days after account deletion
- Backup Systems: Data in backup systems may be retained for up to 30 days before permanent deletion
- Analytics Data: Aggregated, anonymized analytics data that cannot be used to identify you may be retained
Data Retention Period
After you request account deletion:
- Immediate Deletion: Most data will be deleted immediately upon processing your request
- Backup Retention: Data in backup systems will be permanently deleted within 30 days
- Security Data: Limited security-related data may be retained for up to 90 days for fraud prevention and security purposes
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, certain data may be retained longer as necessary to comply with legal obligations
Important Notes
- Irreversible Action: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once deleted, you will not be able to recover your data.
- Export Before Deletion: If you want to keep a copy of your data, use the export feature in the MyDates app before requesting deletion.
- Third-Party Services: This deletion process applies to data stored by MyDates. If you have shared data with third-party services, you may need to delete that data separately.
